thanks for the help
thanks for the help
The starter is located on top of the tranny. It is easy to install. My starter went out on me about a year ago and i had it rebuilt for like $75 so call and check for some starter rebuilders.
Hmm.. You said that you had to pimp the clutch a few times right?.. Well if that's the case. Did you try turning the key first and then pump the clutch. If that solves your problem, I guess it's your Starter-Clutch Interlock Switch that's causing it. I can't really say what it's doing. But I can assume that the points are probably worn. See if that helps..
Oh and about the starter. I believe that if you hear the starter trying to crank over it's fine until proven wrong. Because if you can hear it crank, it's probably not getting enough power. This is where you battery and connections come into play. But if it's cranking slowly, then I believe it means that the armature is rubbing against the pole shoe (I think that's how it's spelled). Now if that's the case, I heard that you can give it good whack and start her up. But after that, you'll have to go and change your starter because that means that it's starting go. But ofcourse, I could be wrong. Good Luck..
Oh and if you could provide more information like whether or not it sparks and if the fuel pump works, that would help also. That is if you didn't already find the problem and fixed it.
