help quick
I have to figure out my problem before work tomorrow. I have let me car sit all weekend other than backing it out of the driveway and giving it a wash. This morning I went to start the car and it hesitated before starting and is surging back and forth. I have jump the ecu and thrown the code 67 which is right because I have a test pipe on the car. Can anyone else help with what they think this could be?
well when the car is started, the steering wheel shakes and the car acts as if it gets fuel then stops gets fuel and then stops. It shakes back and forth and the engine acts like it wants to get to normal smooth idle but it cant. Best way to describe the noise and action would also be as if the timing was wwaaaaaayyyy off the way the car hesitates. Hope I didnt make you more confused.
Are the rpms on your car dropping and then going back up? or is it going up above idle, then dropping back down (but not below idle)? If it's the first, then one of your cylinders isn't firing correctly. If it's the second, you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. Change your sparkplugs if you haven't in awhile, that's happened more than a few times on ths site.

yeah, the car was idling at around 2200 rpms and then dropping back down to about 300. right before it hits the 300 mark the car jumps forward and the idle shoots back up towards the 2k mark
It's probably going up to 2200 instead of your normal idle becuase it's trying to warm up your motor.. but it sounds like atleast one of your cylinders isn't firing all the time. Try changing your sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, and Dist Cap & Rotor (in that order). If that doesn't fix it you might be in trouble.
