HELP! The Problem as returned!
Okay guys I need some help
Problem: Jumpy Tach, causes engine to stutter
Engine: B18C1
Story: This was happening last year as well. I would go WOT and the Tach would wrap around to 9k, while the engine would stutter and almost stall. Now I assumed that it was the Distributor, so I replaced that this spring, and it seemed to help for a week or so. But it started happening again... Not to the extent of last year, but at around 6-7k it starts to get real jumpy and I can feel the engine starting to lose power. Now a quick fix that seems to work when it gets real bad is to Stop and start the engine. But that only last a little bit and it comes back.
Now is it a spark problem? I really need to get this thing fixed, in time for opening day at the Track in May.

have you check to make sure all the grounds were good on the motor? I would start looking for loose connections. Make sure when you plug stuff in. It does not push out the pins on the other plug
Same thing happened to me, was a corroded ground (the one on the thermostat housing). A little sand paper fixed it right up.

I replaced the entire Distributor with another used one I had laying around. I will check out some ground wires tomorrow. and see if thats the problem. its just weird how it only is happening at Higher RPMs, and not through out the entire Power band

My car is essential Stock, with only I/H/E. timing wouldn't cause a problem that big, but I will check it none the less. And I just installed some new NGK Iridium plugs a couple days ago
