HELP! my integ shaking/vibrating
i just wanted to find out if you guys can help. i dropped my 98 LS a couple weeks ago and noticed the car would shake when i pick up speed, at different RPMs, but most defined in 2nd gear@2-2500rpm. it couldnt be the wheel balancing because i just had that done. i just want to know what could be causing the shaking/vibration. help me out peoples!!
oh yea... a funny noise happens when i steer, like at u-turns

if the noise is like a clack, clack type of noise when you are doing tight turning radius turns, it may be the CV joints going bad. is this the sound you're hearing? have you checked the boots to see if they are ripped or leaking grease?
aww hell... Are axles expensive to replace?
oh yea... its nothing like a clack clack sound. It sounds like -wonggwonggwongg-.. and you can feel when you steer.

I would have it checked out by someone in your area to be sure of what the problem might be. if it is the shafts, you can get refurbished ones with new cv joints on both sides of the axle for about $100 plus core each from your local parts place. any grease on the cv boots?
thanks for the info. well i work at Honda so i guess i'll have someone over there check it out for me. i will do a check under the car tomorrow for grease at the boots. you think this was because i slammed it or normal wear and tear?

i only have 35k on the '98 integ gs. it vibration started after i dropped the car on GC's and Tokicos. i drove it around today and it seems like its getting worse
did you get a chance to get someone to take a look at the car today? how about checking for grease on the inner and outer cv boots?
okay, did this vibration only start after you did the gc/tokico install? how much did you lower your car? also, you said you had the wheels balanced. was this before or after the vibration started?
you sure the install was done correctly?
answer these questions and it might lead us to the problem.
35k is a little early to be having cv problems. are you the original owner? if not, how long have you had it and how many miles have you put on it?

nope..didnt have time to have someone to check out the car. But i checked, and there was no grease on the cv boots.
The vibration did occur after I installed the suspension. (this happened to my 96 civic also). Wheels were balanced before the car was dropped, and no shaking occured then.
the install was done correctly. made sure of it.
and i just bought the car from a private owner. i put about 3k miles on it already.
hope all this info helps, cuz this problem irrks the hell outta me!
rite on kkim
