help me out...
At a light the other day i heard a pop in my engine when i started out and now my car's really sluggish. It doesn't do anything wierd when it drives, it's just got slower all of a sudden. Any ideas? oh yeah, and the maintenence light comes on when i start my car and blinks for a while then turns off. ?
Pop like a backfire?
Do you have any modifications to your engine?
Also, what year is your GS-R. (Is it still under warranty?)
Do the revs match what they used to? Do you have a stick? Any wierd smells?
Let us know how your fluids check out, Oil and Coolant.
You can reset the Maintence Required light with the keys in the ignition (I the Accessory mode) by finding the buttin, underneath and to the right of your steering wheel. It will be attached to a box on the bak of the kick panel down there. The button should be green or Blue.
Just hold it down, the light will stay on for a second then turn off. This is just to remin dyou to get your scheduled maintenece done.
Good Luck,
Karl

I do have stick, and the revs don't match what they used to. The car is a 97 and it is mostly stock except for a racing clutch and adjustable suspension. There may be a faint smell when i'm driving... but it's not really that noticeable so i can't be sure if it's my car or my town. I just got oil and coolant all filled up.
Did you take it to a shop to do the fluids?
I've never heard engine "knock", and that usually doesn't happen unless it's hot (I think). So that's probably not it.
Who installed your racing clutch? Sounds to me like it's slipping, or stuck. Depends if the revs are higher now or lower. Take it back to whoever installed your clutch and ask them what's up.
Have you had the clutch on there very long? Is there a "break in" poeriod when you install a new clutch? <--- I'd ask them that question.
Good luck,
Karl

Check your plug wires. My friend's civic was making a popping sound. we opened the hood and one of the spark plug wires had a crack in it and was causing the wires to arc to the valve cover making the popping noise. The car lost power because it was runnung off of 3 cylinders.
This is a long shot but I've had a catalytic converter fail on an american car. It got plugged up and as a result the car ran much slower but the engine actually ran as smooth as ever.
I'll second the "clutch slipping" theory too.
If the engine is running fine then I would look at either the transmission slipping or a blocked exhaust stream.
