ok guys i have a 00 civic si with 98 gsr obd2 motor... just rebuilt, all new internals, the whole nine yards. today i am going down the road shifting into 5th gear running about 60 when the car just makes a little BOOM nose and shuts off. i coast into a driveway check it out nothing looks blown etc. it will turn over but not fire....i decided to change plugs and wires and now it almost fires but then its like something is cutting it off and stopping it. any ideas? please help me its only half a mile from my house and it really frustrating me. i have had so so many problems with this car and i thought with a new motor rebuilt and everything it would be ok,apparently not though so please help as much as possible. thanks in advance

thanks i appreciate it and im gettin all my help from u teg guys thanks for helpin out a civic owner
anyway just though i might add the guy who did the swap for me could not get the timing perfect he said at one place it was just really horrible, rough idle and the other where we set it, it was close but had a small surge or bounce to it. nothing huge but noticeable....with this said, would you guys think this could have caused it to jump time?

He probably doesn't know how to do a timing belt on a honda then, You have to tighten it 3 teeth to get it right.
But I have never seen a motor jump time yet, usually it just bends all the valves and leaves a few in the pistons.
Maybe your car ran lean from not having the o2 hooked up. I believe the car will stay in closed loop and that is not good. If you can get the engine warm then do a compression check.
First unplug the injectors and remove all the spark plugs, then put your gauge on cylinder # 1, have a friend turn the car over so that it spins about 5 times and record the psi #, do this to all 4 cylinders and they should not be more than 10 +- from each other.
Also while doing the test pay attention to the compression gauge and how fast it get up to the final PSI #.
