I have a da with a b16. I think the timing belt broke on me...the car shut off and won't turn on...I'm gonna make sure today when I get home, but my question is...
Is it true that if your timing belt breaks it can mess up the valves, therefore messing up your whole head?

You have to be kidding me...you know everyone's going to ask for more info.
So give us more info and then we'll help you.

The answer is yes it's possible.
I highly suggest NOT trying to start your car. Take everything off you have to to check on your belt.
If you don't know what you're doing... tow it to a shop.

To keep the answer simple and just to answer the OP's question....
Snapping a timing belt can POTENTIALLY cause very serious problems. "Messing up your valves or your whole head" is one of them.
A very easy way to check for a snapped timing belt is to just remove the valve cover and look.
