help with maintenance light

my maintenace light came on about 1000 miles ago. i know thers a button to press to reset it, but when i press it it doesnt do anything and the loght is still on. i have a 96 integra special edition

hold it in for a couple sec...

yea, you have to hold it for at least 3-5 sec for it to go off.

shut the car off, push the button. then turn the key to the"on" position but dont start it. the light will flash a couple times then go off. then it is reset.
