no not at all if you want to spin a bearing by winding it over 6800. unless you used gsr rods and then your fine.

So if you used a non vtec bottom end yeah you definetely at least need arp rod bolts. I'd say 80% of ls motors are junked when the ls rod bolts stretch and waste the bearing.

you seriously didn't ask this question.....

NO, you DON'T. But it would be a bad choice on stock rods if you choose not to. It's insurance man....insurance.

READ about lsvtec man...stop asking questions like this.

I don't think using GSR rods will help a BOLT STRETCH issue....

one of your threads has the HOW TO LSV guide in it. READ it and FOLLOW it. It's BEST.

Really because last time i checked the gsr was made to wind safely to 8,200 and ls's are only made to wind to 6,800. I've personally blown two motors by being and idiot and over winding it with stock ls rod bolts. what happens is the bolts stretch at higher rrpm's and junk the bearings clear enough now.

bottom line gsr rod bolts are stronger than the ls's and will work fine as long as he doesn't think he can wind the motor over 9k

no but its a good idea because LS rod bolts tend to stretch if pushed much over 7200rpm...since you have a VTEC head, youre going to want to rev higher than 7200

rod bolt stretch = spun bearing (catastrophic failure)

Then it's apparent to me you haven't read ANY other of his threads. He DID want to rev to 8.5K-9K. I would NOT EVER tell anyone that a GSR rod bolt is ok. I WILL EVERY TIME tell you to get ARP. PERIOD. It's CHEAP INSURANCE and personally, I've had a few motors myself, and when I didn't use them, I SHOULD have.

Your opinion is just that. As is mine. I think however that you would agree with my statement on ARP bolts being a must. It just makes sense.

OH, and using GSR RODS will NOT solve or prevent a ROD BOLT stretch issue.

^^ agreed...just spend the extra money for the peace of mind...you know damn well youre not going to rev limit yourself short of the failure point of the stock rod bolts
