Help fixing rust.
Hey guys, I have a 2 little rust spots on my car that I would like to fix myself. I was wondering on the exact prep needed in order to fix these up. They are both just surface rust and arent very bad at all.
Heres some pics:

As I said before, ive never done ANYTHING like this in the past, so full instructions would be REALLY helpful!
I also just purchased a spoiler from a member on the board and was wondering on the prep needed to paint it. Right now it is black and I want to paint it red. Instructions on this would be great too (grade of sand paper, number of coats, ect..)
Thanks guys!

sand the paint down and grind the rust off untill you can see clean metal. use some bondo or marglass to fill the spots you grinded and sand it smooth starting with some 80 grit sand paper to shape it and then use 180 grit to smoooth it ouit and finish it with some 320 grit and then primer it. i recommend using SEM brand self etching primer or high build primer. also if the rust is really bad you will be better off cutting of that piece and have a new piece of sheet metal welded in.

Follow what he said, but with one addition. You're gonna want some stuff called naval jelly, it can be found at any autoparts store. After you sand most of the rust off, apply the jelly and let it sit for x amount of minutes (it will say on the bottle). Wipe it off and repeat as many times as needed to get rid of all the rust. It eats away all the rust that you couldn't get with the sand paper. That way you won't have rust showing up two months later after you busted you ***** doing all that sanding.
