Default Help: Engine Noise?

I have some concern with my car...here's the problem:

After every oil change, I notice that my car makes a "pinging" sound. The sound only occurs below 2000 rpm, and is very noticeable between 1500 - 1800 rpm. The engine can be cold or hot, does not make a difference, the sound still occurs.

I bought the car off the lot, and I know that the engine is stock. No modifications at all. (Well just a K&N replacement air filter !)
The car has 39,000 pampered miles on it...a few beatings every now and then !
I had a valve adjustment at an Acura dealership about 5000 miles ago.
For my oil changes (every 3000 miles), I use Penzoil 5W-30, and a Mobil-1 Oil filter.
I always make sure that there is enough oil in the car...right on or slightly below upper mark of the dip stick.

One thing that I did notice is that after awhile the noise goes away. Could it be that the oil is thickening up after time/age/miles and lubricating better at lower engine speeds? Should I be a using a heavier weight oil...or maybe even a different oil for my next oil change? Does Penzoil just suck ?

At first I thought that maybe it was the quality of fuel. I have tried different gas stations: Shell, Chevron, 76. No change.

And I haven't changed the spark plugs/wires yet either. They are the original plugs/wires that came with car. Could this also affect the engine noise at lower rpms?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm probably not much help without hearing the noise firsthand...

Question: Does this sound occur when the clutch is out or in or doesn't matter?

Only reason I ask is that my friend had 96 teg which started making ticking noises, and sometimes they went away, but then later on, from ignoring the sound, the sound got louder sometimes, and then his clutch wouldn't work. We took the trans out and found many bolts were loose and the clutch needed to be replaced. So if you have been beating on your car, running at the track at all alot, or just recently over the summer I would suggest checking that out.

Not sure if this would be the problem, not oil related at all either, just trying to help!
