Default Help Deciding between suspension setup

Sup guys! First post here at HT and I'm having trouble deciding between either H techs or Stechs vs Ground controls. Right now I'm lowered 3" and want to go up a bit. Obviously the ground controls would be the better choice but i cant really afford koni yellows so im stuck with tokico blues and ill upgrade later to koni strs. Would GC be worth it?

The GC sleeves for use on Koni Sport shocks are specific to Koni Sport shocks, and won't work with other shocks.

Meaning, if you buy GC sleeves you can use on those Tokico shocks, they won't work on Koni Sport shocks.

Save up, do it all at once. No reason to take the suspension apart or pay to have the car aligned multiple times.

Ive seemed to overlooked that. So my dad told me he'd buy me the GCs as a late Christmas present . But now I'm kinda confused with the GCs spring rate, would it be best to leave them as off the shelf rates or is there a better rate for a daily?

if you're not tracking the car the OTS rates are pretty good

Ok thanks also would there be any reason to get extended top hats if I'm not planning to go too low(around a 2" drop at max)?

Extented top hates are nice to have, especially if you want to go lower later down the road.

I say save up for the whole thing, and if you ever think that you are going to go low you should think about getting a stiffer spring rate (since you can get them custom made)

For example, i paid just under 1100.00 for my full Ground control/Koni yellow set with all 4 extended top hats shipped to my house from ground control themselves with 450/500 Spring rates (I am slammed, the lower you go the stiffer spring you want to prevent bottoming out as easy)And in term on suspension i think it is the best you can get for this price range. (only from what i have read, my suspension is installed in the garage but since it is winter out i can't take her out to get aligned or corner blanaced)

Also keep in mind if you are not going to install the coils yourself they will run you anywhere from 100-400 just for the install (600 is what i got quoted here from a local shop which is a joke because you could easily do it yourself over the course of a day)
then you will either need to corner balance them all yourself or have somebody to do it and when all said and done you need an alignment.

Hope this was of help!

If you aren't going lower than 2" you can probably skip the extended top hats.

OTS rates are going to give a handling balance similar to what you are used to. If you want to get a little more oversteer you might want to add some rate to the rear (although it will be a harsher ride the more you stiffen the rear).

Generally Integras like even rates F/R or slightly stiffer in the front to be neutral.

base your spring rates around the tires you run and intended use.

if you drive on all seasons 350/300 should be plenty

a hard sport tire like the s drive 400/350

the good tires, like kumho xs, yoke ad08., star spec, 615s etc... you will do well around 500/450

with a larger rear sway bar this is a pretty neutral setup. if you bias the rear it is quicker at autocross but also more dangerous in the rain and on the street

To expand upon that, I'd even recommend NOT running extended upper shock mounts if you don't absolutely need them. The relocation of the upper mounting point puts additional side loading on the shock shaft, and increases the likelihood of the spring rubbing the shock/sleeve.

I have 2 threads on each of my front GC sleeves where the threads have been rubbed smooth enough to no longer be useful by the spring...

Tokico Blues are worthless. If you want a nice set of coilovers, I would suggest PROGRESS CS-II. I had them on my old EJ8 coupe and love 'em. The price is PERFECT!!!

Hmm thats interesting. i will have to watch out for that when riding with mine.

Is there a way to prevent this in anyway?

Relocate the upper spring perch to the shock shaft itself instead of the chassis.

Not worth it for 99.9% of people, and not a commonly available setup.
