Default header question

i know the difference in lengths btwn 00-01 GSR...but are all B series header the same length? 94-99 ls/gsr/rs?

looking at a DC ceramic header used. came off a 00 civic with a b16....would that fit onto my 99 LS? if it doesn't, is all i need to do is cut and weld it shorter or longer?

would it be better to just get a JDM ITR header? just looking for minor mods even tho i know it might not add that much power or anything.

the height is the same. as far as it bolting up im sure it does. as for how far under it goes that length may change.

and if your going to spend money then spend money with a purpose. im not saying ball out but buy a header that gives you bang for the buck. jdm itr ones off ebay arent that great...they do the job but compared to like the dc ceramic header it doesnt compare lol...

You have this confused. It is the '94-'99 GS-R that is a different length. All the rest are completely interchangeable.

The B16 header might clear the oil pan, but the flange at the cat is angled differently than on the LS. You'd be better off with the JDM ITR header if that's your other option, though you'll still need a custom high-flow cat.

hmm ok well i might know someone that can get me a good deal for a JDM ITR header. not the ebay ones but the real ITR ones.

im looking at the DC ones since they're cheap if i can find one used. but i just dont know the difference. if its just length on the bottom i'm sure i can get the muffler shop to cut and reweld it...but i wanted to make sure. but if the flange is different i rather not have them angle the flande differently.

i'm trying to piece together the exhaust system and the header is the last thing i'm trying to find. i can't find a used LS one. other then the length, are all B series CAT the same flange and angled the same way?

i held a b16 header up to an ls block once and it wouldnt work, the header hit the oil pan. This might vary according to brand, but the one i had didnt work, i think it was a DC

the itr one should work though, i think it will bolt right up

you can use any b-series except the one for the b16. you might as well stay away from the longer gsr ones though, and get one that bolts right up

cool....since we're on the subject of this

would the midpipe section of a GSR fit for a LS? or is it longer too? someone told me the bends are the same but just length might be a little different.

note on this one that the guy who said it will fit was swapping in the b16, so he meant it would fit at the flange not at the oil pan since he never tried putting a b16 header on an ls block

the ports from the head won't line up perfectly. maybe a loss in power.

That's incorrect. The ports are identical.

sorry but i understand now..i'll be looking for one that fits.

for the midpipe...the GSR for 94-99 will be about 4.5 inches too long right? i got a cheap midpipe for a 94-99 GSR from a friend. so i'm gonna use that, with a vibrant muffler and have a shop weld it. they should be able to cut it shorter, and weld it?
