H22 in teg...Wise???
I was lookin at engines, and the H22 is pretty cheap. So i was wondering if it would be wise to put one in my 94 Teg RS. I know that it will probably be heavier, but 200 ponies and 160 (im not sure) pounds of torque sound pretty nice to me. I was just wondering your opinions on this swap???
Its not really worth it cuz u have an rs first which is like 250-300lbs lighter than a gsr. So you can put a straight stock b18c1 and already be faster than a stock GSR. Its cheaper than a prelude cuz u need mounts and linkage for the h22. You could also just ls/vtec and slightly build up the motor with higher compression and some good cams and be faster than with the h22 for less money. Plus i hate prelude trannys, the break and also have that funny feel to them, unlike a b-series trans.

you want fast, get a B18C with turbo or super, or just get a b18c5, yep! If it was ME I would get the b18c5.
What about a B18B with a turbo? Torque + turbo? And the car will still stay on the ground.

if the price is good id go for it. How hard is it doing i would post that question on the hybrid board. Or IM ImportReview(sp?), i believe he's really into that engine for swaps.
Why would you want an H22 when you can get a B18c5?
Well I think one of the reasons is because a jdm type r is 6k and a H22a is $2300

Hi i happen to have a h22a in my integra. I did it 5 years ago. I personally love it. Never had a problem with handling and i smoked alot of people at the street races. I actually wished i had a rs for the lighter weight. I ended up running 12.3 at 111mph 2 years ago. With some slicks and race doors. It was my Daily driver. I just had to put on my stock doors and wheels. My swap was alot cheaper then a type-r swap. Only negative side is no a/c unless you use a custom bracket. I say go for it! it worked for me

H22 is only 70-80lbs heavier than a b series. If you can get someone that knows what they are doing to install it....then it's a great choice. Definately worth it IF done right. I think it's the best swap for the $$.

man do it dog. i know a dude around here with one in his EK civic and he drives it everyday, he says he has no problem with it, so i know if a civic can handle it a teg can handle it, and a b18c5 is high as hell just for the swap not including the labor.
Lets say i swap my B18B for a B18C1. Will i need to buy a new header? And what header should i get?? Should i get one for a C1, but then it might not match up with the catylac converter (sp). Thanks for your help, ill probably just go turbo, but i want to explore my options!

However, just remember that in the money you save going h22a, you are going to pay out in labor.
I'd just spend the money you were going to spend on a h22a on a turbo. Lots more power and if done right reliability isn't that much of an issue.
dont f@#$ around. just buy a damn turbo. prolly cost you bout the same $ you already have a good engine tranny and overall good platform for turbo so why not just work with what you have and go turbo. you could be putting down much better numbers than with a stock h22. i dont see why its gonna be that much more reliable to put a whole new motor in there rather than a turbo kit. i guess i just dont put much faith in the whole "turbos are unreliable" theory.
now if your motors blown and your lookin for a replacement id say dont forget about b20. it will bolt in so you dont need custom mounts and you can use your exsisting tranny if you want (just swap some gears with gsr gears) or just buy a gsr tranny. well built with a vtec head i think 200whp and 160 tq is feasible. you can get a b20 for bout $1000

I've heard so many people talk about how putting a b20 or an H22 adds too much weight/throws off weight distribution/affects handling etc. It's a bunch of crap. The weight difference is NOT that significant. Look at the domestics with 4.6 to 8.0 liters up front and they're happy as can be. I would sacrifice weight for cubic inches anyday. Go for it!!
H22 is only 70-80lbs heavier than a b series.
And look at it this way the turbo kit is going to weigh 30-40 pounds anyways. The weight issue shouldn't be that big of an issue.

) and you'll be pretty close to normal weight distribution.
