GSR Rant!
This is not directed at the car, but me trying to find one.
WTF. This car is blown out of proportion in my area. I've been looking for a GSR for about a year now. You can't find any that have a clean title, and when you do they want an astronomical amount for it. Then you have the GSRs that are riced to hell and are trying to sell for 15K (95 model). Everytime I call about one, it's been sold within 24 hours. I feel like I've been living on Autotrader and Cars.com for a year now. It looks as if I will never get one. I don't want the common EG w/ a swap either. I can't stand driving a hatch and I would fear the resale value on one.
How did you guys find your GSR? Local paper, H-T, Autotrader, etc.

Back on track....
I got mine after looking online for several months. Keep in mind that many of the online autotrader type websites can be outdated. Several of the cars I called on had been sold for over a week, even though they were still on those types of sites. Newspaper classifieds are usually the best -- many of the people that use them are rather computer-illiterate, and therefore may not have a good idea of what their car is worth. I finally found one in Minneapolis while looking at their local paper (I was living in Fargo, ND at the time) that was listed BELOW trade-in value.
Don't be afraid to look outside of your area. I had to drive 3.5 hours to get my car, and it was worth it -- original owner, clean title, 30-year old married woman =

i didnt really think there was a hype...not around here at least. there a dime a dozen, nothing special to me. When I was car searching, I found at least 10 for sale locally that were priced right. goodluck!
The cars I usually call about are about 3-4 hours away. I'm not asking much...
-98+
-stock/semi-stick
-not a shade of green
-less than 100K miles
Why is that so hard to find?

I got lucky and found one in Oakland at a dealership. I was right about to get a red one, but when I saw the black one, it was love at first sight. Plus it had half as many miles as the red gsr. (13k....the red one was the same year and had 29k). I would pick up a newspaper and check that out. Be patient though. It's not like they are going to get more expensive...
you could always try and beat the system. Buy a GS/LS/RS for really cheap with an old motor in it and get a gsr motor swap from a place like http://shop.store.yahoo.com/nu....html. I bet you could get the car, the motor, and a place to install it for under 10k... hell you could even get the Type R motor for 1600 more. Just an option if you are really desperate, I wish I had done that instead of buying a low mileage LS after getting tired of looking.
a Type R motor with no badges would be a sweet sleeper

I know somebody selling his Milano Red '01 GS-R. I can forward his contact info to you if you'd like.
I think the only mods done to it are an AEM CAI, ITR springs, and ITR 22mm rear swaybar.
The only thing is that he lives in Indianapolis....quite a trip from the NC.

After 5 months of casual looking and debating on what car to actually get, i came across one off some obscure website that had an auto classifieds. I call it fate because the folks who posted it never knew how their ad made it online and they had only posted the ad and paid the day before.
I wasnt very demanding and they were really great people to deal with so i pretty much gave them the asking price.
It wasn't a GSR, but then again i wasnt looking for anything more than a daily driver that had two doors and zero accident history. To this day, i still dont regret getting a non-vtec. Perhaps its because I also have a maxima and an M5 to switch with.
A GSR isnt worth all the hype. With the other Vtec's driven, i'd say the Prelude's vtec and the RSX pulls harder and faster.
Good luck with the car search. Americans generally place too much emphasis on cars IMHO. Your best asset is being sensible and remember that its just a car.

I found mine in the local newspaper and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for: bone stock, orig owner, dealer maintained, low mileage. About a week before I got the gsr I was putting money down on a 97 prelude with 80k miles but the guy decided not to sell it when I was heading to his house to put money down. I was bummed about it but I am glad it happened. Don't settle for something you don't really want, just wait and it will come along.
my mom found mine on autotrader back in december 2002...it was in perfect condition, covered with car cover everyday, flawless (3 small dings), 5.5K miles, 2001 white gsr, not modified at all......had to pay bluebook for something like that $19.5
Keep checking the "vehicles for sale" forum. Put something in your signature that your looking. Post a want to buy add in that forum. I love ebay. You can have them email you everytime GSR is listed. You can get a car shipped from CA to NY for under $550 so dont be affraid to bid on far away stuff. Just be sure to know the vehicle well. Ask the seller for a phone number and I dont usually mess with people who have a feedback rating under 15-20. If you need help PM me
look at your local paper online adds, here they have online only adds there that dont get put in the paper, i found 1 and when i wint to look at it the guy said its bin on the internet for 4 days and hes had 7 calls and 4 people to look at it. good thing they all needed to get loans first and i hade the $
Patience is the key! Gsr's are rare and i found my gem at a local website. Man, that was the car i was looking for. Its a RARE 98 4 dr GSR in the dark blue color. I love sedans and the car was dealer maintained, orig owner, everything stock (even tires). So far i've only seen 2 sedan GSR's in my color. Hehe, good luck on your search. Try autotrader.com or even ebay =P
my ex-girlfriend found me mine...i was lookin online and in papers for about a month. i found a red one in the paper and then the ex found another red one with less mileage and for a cheaper price! i checked it out and bought it the next day.
I found mine on Autotrader back in July of 2000., it was at the Chevy dealership in Hampton, N.H. They wanted $12,800 (88K on it at the time) and when I was literally on my way out the door a sales gut yelled "Wait!" He fumbled around on the computer for about 1 minute and asked if I'd want it for $8,800, I then bought it and this is the longest I've ever owned one car, and I still have no intentions of selling it anytime soon. But of course, everyone has a price point that they just couldn't say no to...
The newspaper owns. My dad found mine in the local classifieds. He wasn't computer literate so that was his main source. I at the same time was looking online and came across the same '98 Green GS-R he had found in the paper. The price listed in the paper was $1500 less than the online price! We clipped the ad, and talked the price down even lower, so I picked up my '98 GS-R for 12k with 42k miles back in July... which is a really good price to pay around here, even compared to the KBB and NADA value. Good luck with your search, and check the papers, there's often times more offers at better prices in them than online.
i found mine back in april of 2001 it was sittin in a honda dealer for 3 or 4 months 96 4 door gsr 36k origanal tires one owner. now almost three years later ive got 99500 never one problem and pretty modified in fact just put a clutch in about 2 months ago. clutchmasters stage 3 with clutchmasters flywheel. about to put my greddy turbo in a month or so. good luck with your search to me about 2 months
Bro, I totally feel you. I have been looking for one for about 2 months now. The ads on autotrader are outdated as hell, there are ads on there foras much as a month old sold cars. I'm still deciding between the 4dr or the 2dr gsr.
here in texas you can find anythin, when i got my 99 gsr it had 22xxx and i got from an old lady for 11.5k and i can still get bout 13k if i take the turbo off, and i got it two years ago! try lookin in texas and ship a 00 gsr for like 15 around here!
i know your pain. Ive been looking for just an integra GS, Ls, or GSR to swap my K20A2 into. I cant find the best deal. And when the perfect deal comes along, its green with tan interior. Exaclt what i dont want. I would settle for black, white, silver, blue, or even red...just not green. Im keeping my head up though, i know my car is out there.
