is the gsr knock sensor specific, and does a B18B1 have a knock sensor i can use, i read that the Gsr uses the knock input to activate vtec.

While taking my engine out of my gsr, my friend that it cool to pull on the knock sensor plug, in order to pull the connector from the sensor, since he is impatient. He broke the sensor right in half.

i have a wrecked LS, and have a 90 RS engines are b18b1 and b18a1, if i can get away with jacking the sensor from either that would be awesome. Dont feel like spending 126$ for a friends **** up.

No, LSs do not have a knock sensor....buy one off ebay for $35.

 

D16Y8, any obd B16/17a, B18C or H22 (up to 97) will work and plug right in. The 98up h22 and b20z knock sensors will wor they just utilize a different connector.

 

so basically any vtec engine obd1 will work..? thanks this is exactly the info i needed, i later found that LS and Rs didnt have knock sensors,

you should remove the knock sensor and get the car tuned without it. but obd 1 will stillengage in vtec.

 

well i dont really have money to get it tuned, and i got a free obd2 knock sensor from a h22a i think, so i just need to find the connector.

I have already dropped 400 dollars on the timing side of my engine and all new seals and gaskets, and ARP head studs and Felpro 3 layer head gasket.

so when school starts i will start dropping money into it, but the next thing thats getting money is my jdm front end getting painted. haha and put on.

 

sounds good just get all the little things done first. it will pay off.
