hey turbothis ls. i'm very certain that the ls has a o2 sensor near the end of the collectorbefore it hits the cat. the gsr(at least on a 94) has no hole for an o2 sensor on the collector. it's actually on the cat.

possibly, but didn't you just put an itr header on your car? the gsr is a 4 to 2 -1 design with a little bit higher length A pipe than an ls. this is so it can accomodate the oil pan under the b18c engine. other than that i'm tapped out of info. on this subject. also, the 94-98 A pipe develops this mysterious rattle from where it was welded together near the collector. i have been told this is due to the two pipes slightly touching after you break it in by revving the **** out of your engine. it usually happens around 3400rpm and goes away at 4200rpm. it was so annoying on my car, that i didn't even want to deal with replacing it with another header, so i went turbo instead.

yeah i installed the ITR header on mine. I was gonna sell my LS header and saw this ebay auction for a GSR header. The GSR one was going for $56 or so and I was just wondering y a GSR header would go for so much....
A little confused on the A-pipe thing.....explain to a dummy....where exactly does the rattle develop, and it's the GSR problem only right?

==

i know it looks a liitle crude but it is as good a diagram as a keyboard can make. the 'equal' signs are the tubes that come down under the engine and the 'greater than' sign is the collector before the catalytic converter. the problem occurs at the point where the 'equal' signs intersect the 'greater than' sign. the two tubes before the 'greater than' rattle from the tubes settling and touching from an improper weld from the factory. its not the weld that rattles but the two pipes that touch each other inside the weld joint.

the factory part from the dealer to fix the rattle is over 400 bux. the reason why it went that high on ebay is because people want a cheap and efficient fix to the rattling noise that drives them nuts and they can get the part 10 times cheaper than from the dealer. when this problem occured on my car, i called all the local salvage yards. they ended up telling me that the part is always sold with the engine and is very diffficult to find.

it may even happen on an LS, although i'm not sure. the mechanics i've talked to tell me it's because of the high revs that the gsr engine is capable of. i'm not sure what the LS revs to because i've never driven one.
