Default GS-R???

I'm thinking about buying a 94' GS-R . How can you tell the difference between a GS-R or a LS if they put a v-tec emblem on the back, changed the engine cover, and changed the intake manifold??? Thanks

look on the block or the transmission housing it should have a engine code and if it says b18c1 than it is a gs-r but if it says b18a1 then it is a ls.

GSR
8000prm Redline <<<<
V-tec on the valve cover
a ls has a different size valve cover all together unless its a LS/vtec
rims are alloys unless replaced.
Vin is on the block, on the bumper, hood, on the side of the door panel.
Check vin is the for sure thing. Look at multiple spots on the car to find it to make sure they are the same.

GSR hatchbacks don't have a mounted third brake light on the hatch. It's should be on the wing..

**** my ECU is all stock and it will keep going past 8300. I don't know when it's supposed to start pinging back, but I've never seen it...Don't want to either..Is mine not working you think, or is the tach off just of a little?

chances are your tach is off slightly, i have a vtec controller with rev counter and it cuts fuel at 8040, whereas the needle is at 8200, so i'm assuming my rev counter on the cluster is slightly out

vin should say DC2 somewhere or DB8 if its a sedan.

LS is a DC4

LS block will say B18B1 94-01

You can't swap valve covers on the LS and GSR, so if it says DOHC VTEC it's a GSR more than likely.

A GSR block should say B18C1.

GSR has 8000 RPM redline.

All GSR's come in standard transmission.

There's more I can't think of now but those are the basic ones that will tell you if it's a GSR or not. You can't exactly tell by exterior or interior options because the LS SE/GS has GSR options such as rims, spoiler, leather interior. But the LS SE came out in 95-up.
