Kunem Beranat SUKA. Search GM synchro mesh before it gets worst and put the "friction modified" version in your transmission as your oil. Give it a week or two to work it's way in. Should solve the problem if it is infact your synchros that are acting up. Goodluck.

The transmission has these parts inbetween the gears called synchronizers...

after years of not changing the oil or grinding gears a lot or abusive driving... the synchros wear out....

but theres a set of synchros for every gear....

so its totally possible to just wear out the synchros for 2nd or third gear... those are actually the most common ones that wear out cause those are the ones people slam it into gear when driving fast...... and if u miss a shift and you hear that grind... thats the synchronizers grinding for whatever gear your trying to hit....

If its a grind in the super high rpms only then there is wear but not a lot of wear yet... but little by little grind by grind .... shift by shift.... your eventually not gona be able to shift into that gear....

Either learn how to open your tranny and change all the synchronizers so it shifts like a new ttranny again.... or buy a used or new tranny in better shape.

Why are you saving up for a new clutch? If just 1 gear is out it is NOT your clutch.

the cost of replacing synchros at a shop is pretty expensive... on average i was quoted 1200$ so i ended up just buying a type r tranny. in the meantime i learned about synchros and transmissions using the helms manual... then i repaired it with about 200$ total with all new synchronizers and one new bearing....

the cheapest quote ive ever gotten for a synchro replacement is 600$

You will have to do your own estimate shopping in your area, everywhere is different, I thought I just read yesturday here in HT somewhere that this guy paid less than $300, some shops may do bearings and other stuff because they garantee their work. You have to pull the tranny and the clutch is right there, look at it and make an informed decision if it needs replacing NOW or two years from now, you will have to pull the tranny to do it later. BUT you need syncros now.

synchromesh will only fix a minor grind.... and its more of a bandaid than anything... it might fix the grind for a short while but the problem WILL come back... and it WILL be worse.

seriously... the best thing you could do is get a helms manual.... get the tools listed for the tranny... and replace them yourself.

U will learn a lot and have a skill you can use to make money if u ever need to.

At 16 i got my integra after about a month of beating on it hardcore the 3rd gear always would grind. Found GM Syncromesh put it in there and by the time i was 17 i went through 2 motors because I would beat the crap out of the car so bad, but the 3rd gear grind never came back...

Its cheap, its easy, and it works for a while

Or its more expensive, time consuming, it fixes it like new, you "learn" how to read a manual.

If you ask me I would say its probably the synchros, I had the same problem in my old DA except it grinded into 3rd.
