Good DD
Hey hows it going i have a
1994 acura integra LS with
-Greddy headers
-Greddy catback
-AEM shortram intake
-GSR tranny
-GSR clutch
what else can i do to the car so i can have a quick DD?
I plan on doing a GSR swap once the engine blows but it only has 60,000 on it
so im still far away from it blowing up
thanks

that motor has lots of life left unless youve raped all those 60k miles. if you just want something quick but not crazy you can get the b16 tranny and sell the gsr so youll end up spending practically nothing.
if you have the stock cat that will be restrictive too. now if you want something more than the turbo option is always there.
you can get a clutch and lighter flywheel too. i/h/e/clutch/flywheel with a b16 tranny in an LS will be some fun even if its not that fast. get some suspension mods too. a car can be fun without being powerful.

yeah i know my engine should last for a grip, i hope
( i dont get on it alot maybe once or twice on a sat night)
im doing a stage 1 and a lighter flywheel soon clutch still has life on it so waiting for it to go bad before spending the money for the new one
also i have it droped on springs/shocks already
what im really looking for more prep
should i do internals(cams, etc..) or what would give me some extra prep
right now its quick(well i think so) just looking for that extra push
now why would you say a b16 tranny?(im somewhat new to honda's) isnt the GSR better and geared better?
also do strut bars really help or are they more for show? "front and rear"
thanks alot

i think some coil over kits, some tires, and strut bars are a must on a car. make it so much better in handling. if you got come money laying around get a full suspension. really isnt expensive comparing to engine work. IMO
the b16 tranny has shorter gears and for an n/a car is a must. the gsr is a good compromise for a turbo setup which you dont have. you WILL be at higher rpm all the time if you have the b16 tranny vs gsr tranny though but its not that bad. itll be quicker with the b16 tranny
if you want to leave the stock block you can just do some headwork(cams, valvetrain, etc.)
the LS is a great motor for boost. instead of investing on the head, you can just boost on stock internals and youd be happy with that.

suspension can get quite pricey after everything is added up. a good spring/shock combo will satisfy most people.

so the strut really work then?
i found a kit for the front and rear(trunk) then the one under the car(i think axels) and H brace for somewhat cheap should i try to pick it up? will i notice a difference?
i have some 17's with good tires but going to be getting some light wieght 15's/16's
soon once i get the those ill be getting coil-overs so i can adjust it to look good

I'll most likely leave the GSR tranny in it since i just did it not to long ago...lol
now i've never messed with internal stuff what cam's & etc..
should i be looking at (brands and specs etc..)
and on boost how good is that for a DD? ive always hurd those (he said she said stuff) about how they always hear of the people blowing there engine fast
but I've seen those bolt on turbo kits for 1-3k are they something to look into or BOLT-ON means POS?
then i've saw a SC on craigslist for like 1k not sure how that is on a integra prob the same as turbo right?
also im really just looking for a quick DD
and it would be nice to have something faster then my friends lol
the fastest one is a low 16 or something
then the other one just got a 4door si(new one)
im not even sure what my car runs so....????

since i have a short ram AEM intake
would i notice a differnce if i got a AEM cold air intake?
__________________________________________________ ___
also i was talking to another honda owner
he was tellling me about skunk2 cams he said they are the best.
if i wanted to do cams is that all i need or do i need to replace other parts?
and what kind of power difference will i notice with cams?
__________________________________________________ ___
should i buy skunk2 cams?
or what other companys make them and
where are some info on internals? im searching
as i type this to, just looking for second opions

also was thinking today at work since everyone
is telling me boost(buddys/people i work with)
I've seen those bolt on turbo kits for 1-3k

and if i did boost it i'd have a shop do it so whats a commen price to get a teg boosted and is boost a reliable for DD?

and like i said before not looking for something crazy fast
but a quick DD since my teg is mid 15's
so maybe mid 14's or low 14's is a goal to shoot for? not sure if that consider crazy fast??
let me know thanks for all the help guys!!!!!!!

suspension can get quite pricey after everything is added up.</TD></TR></TABLE>
But it will make a slow car feel fast 100% of the time. Compaired to engine work on a DD, it is much cheaper. To the OP there are alot of variables, figure out what YOU like to do. Either drag, auto-x,a quicker DD, whatever you want to have and build from there. If you want a car to drag, you may want to spend your money on HP. If you want to auto-x from time to time, suspension and tires. A quicker DD, some cosmetics and some cheaper bolt on will be fine, and as stuff brakes upgrade.

Ok first off. You can build a decent turbo kit for around $1,500 and run around 12 psi no prob.. all you will need to do is find a 50trim turbo with a top mount Turbo manifold( that is if you are wanting to keep ac) as for tuning you don't need to go real expensive such as hondata.. you can run chrome which would be perfectly fine.. then just a waste gate blow off valve, intercooler, and piping and your set.. do you have the mechanical abilities to install a turbo kit? if so, you will save a ton by not sending it to shop
also a decently pieced together kit running stock internals on around 12psi. you should be able to push 13's,,
But remember before you think about boosting to go some where and get a compression and leak down test.. just so you know where your motor stands..

okay so say i got a kit for $1,500
what other parts do i need to upgrade? pistons, cam's,manifolds what internal's and what all needs to be upgraded ?? etc...??? so its done right the first time around.
anyway 12 psi is safe for a integra block? or would i be better off runing like 8 pounds of boost for a DD? and that top mount turbo manifold you sayed is that like the speed 3 set ups? or am i getting that confussed with a top mount intercooler?
thanks for all the help guys

you mostly will want to upgrade your internals and have a shop put it together for you if you don't have any experience with turbos. My friend boosted his d16 at 10 psi stock internals and he cracked his sleeves the next day. Do it Once, Do it RIGHT!

Your best bet dollar for dollar is a budget turbo build. You can build a decent setup for under $2000 for everything. Those engines can handle ~300whp bone stock....
btw, PSI doesn't mean a damn thing so stop basing engine limits on it
