Default gauge cluster problems.... help needed!!

when i first got my 92 da the tach, gas, and temp. gauges never worked... when i installed my autometer tach, it quit working all together and the only things that worked were the turn signal, highbeem, battery lights, and the autometer tach of course... i bought a working cluster from my friends parts car and installed it.. and the only thing that works still in the lights i mentioned above. i checked in the haynes manual to see if they have anyting on it, and they do not. i checked everyone of my fuses and they are good. i was told to check the main relay fuse, but i have no clue where that is on my teg... it doesnt even say where it is in the haynes manual.

i am stuck on what to check to get it to work... help will be very appricated.

I think the main fuse relay is in the engine compartment, not sure though, my girl had a similar problem and she had to take it to a dealership to get it fixed. GL though

hey, i got the same prob. my lights on my cluster work, batt light n srs light, thats it. needles are all dead n my gauges in my pods too. wtf??? i have been told that it is the main relay too. i'm gonna take one from a frenz car n try it. it is under the driver side dash near the fuse box. it says mitsuba on it. they go for about 29-60 bucks on ebay. i think theres a 10 or 12 mm bolt that holds it to a bracket up there and the relay is grey. i kno someone posted something on this forum b4 about how to check if the relay is bad, but Im to lazy to look for it. If u can borrow one from someone, thats better. ne one with a 88 n up honda will have it in their car
hope this helps. gud luk

if n e 1 is still watching this thread, I found the problem to my car. It turns out that my reverse plug that comes out of the tranny and connects to the engine harness shorted out the fuse for my backup lights. If the wire is showing a little bit and it grounds oit self out by touching the tranny or just metal, it will blow the fuse. It sounds weird that that would cause the cluster to stop working, but I am thinking that fuse is in line with the connections that run to the cluster. I am going to check my wiring diagrams to be sure.

But anyway, there you go. If your gauges all die at the same time like mine, check that fuse for your backup lights!

I hope this works out for you. It has happenned to a couple of friends of mine, and when I showed them my car, they new right away that it was that reverse light fuse.

Good luck!
