Default Fuse Problem. Please help.

Background Info:

In the past 3 month i had to replace the "Instrument Lights" fuse. (7.5). I dont know why but it just went out 2 times. After I replaced it the second time it stayed till present.

Now: Tonight im driving it and the fuse goes out again. I find a fuse(10) and I pop that in and nothing. I tried another 7.5 and still nothing. As I start to walk away I hit the alarm and realize that when I hit the button my lights didnt flash. Im thinking this has to be part of of the same problem.

Some of my friends say its a short somewhere, and the other say it might be a loose connection. Does anyone know what it might be, and how to fix it. If anything ill just go to my mechanic to try to track it down. thanks

i always had a problem identifying electrical shorts. its hard to figure out exactly where its coming from. but if it keeps blowing like that theres either a problem with the thing that it powers....or a short

when did you first start blowing fuses....think about the first time you did and what you had done right before that to make it blow. check any wiring that you may have had done to the car

When I had the body shop fix my front end after it got hit, that night is when it was out. I put a new fuse in a it worked for about a week, then i replaced it again and it stayed on for about 3 monthes now, till last night

Sounds like there might be a frayed wire somewhere back there that is making ground contact with the chasis. Remove the rear panels, and lookfor any frayed wires/ bare wires or + making - contact.

^...he said the frontend. but he's right, i would check all the wiring by where they fixed the car. what else is affected when that fuse is blown?

When the fuse is out the cluster and center console lights dont light up. Also I noticed the headlights and taillights work, but dont blink when I turn the alarm on and off

since you said your frontend was repaired and then it started happening then i would check your wiring for your front headlights. also if you cut into any wires in the center console or cluster check those...
