I'm in the process of converting my teg from auto -> manual with a b18 engine + rebuilt b16 tranny.

I'm buying a shift linkage (for my DA) off a guy who took it off his 92-93 GSR. I asked him what else he's selling, he said he'll sell me the engine and tranny (b17 both) for $700. He's local and I've heard the B17 is rare. Should I jump for it? He says it has about 101KM on it but its been taking out so I can't really test to see if their working. Should I offer lower or just skip and get linkage?

 

Sick ****ing deal.

GSR head (average condition) = 400-600$
GSR tranny (rare one, b17) - 350-550$

I hope you see where I am going? even if he spun a rod bearing, you can part that motor out for A LOT!

A guy here is selling a motor like that, no tranny, 1000$, with tranny, 1500$ I think. I would jump all over that. Take some pics of the vin and stuff.

EDIT: Assuming you already have an LS tranny, you could sell that one easily That motor is obd1, so if you are swapping it into an OBD1 shell then you dont have to worry about subharnessing and stuff. For 700$, I would buy just the motor, tranny included? FOR SURE!

Not to mention, if you offer him 600$ he will most likely take it, or 700$ including the linkage! Just make sure its not stolen.

i have a whole b17 swap and ill just say you wont be dissapointed its a very short geared trans tho, which im sure your aware of, very fun to have!

 

make sure vins checkout with the local popo, you don't want to buy no hot ****, get your car impounded and possibly crushed....
