Default fan switch

when my car idels for a long time it over heats because the fans do not turn on any more. they will only turn on if i turn on the ac. so i guess its a bad fan switch. i have a b16 in my car. is the fan switch for a b16 the same as an ls? should i buy a fan switch for a ls or one from a car that came with a b16 like the 00 civic si's

are you talking about the thermoswitch? Replace that, or test it.

Bridge the 2 wires together, if the fans dont come on, it means its bad.

I think that's backwards. If you short the wires together, that should make the fan run. If that works, it means the fanswitch isn't closing. If that DOESN'T make the fan run, then your problem is in the wiring someplace.
