Engine Swap
Engine Swap
I have a 1991 Acura Integra LS (stock automatic, 111K)
Im plannning to swap mah engine and tranny soon, and i am down to 3 choices of motors. H22A, Spec R, or just ls v-tec. The H22A is the Prelude Type S 220HP and 163lbs-feet of torqque, the spec R is 210HP but i dunno anything else, and the LS v-tec, i just heard that with that i can run faster than Type R's. To make mah car the quickest which swap should i do and y?
Thanks

please do some more research on this before you do it
but anyways h22a will not fit right in, you need to have everything custom to make it fit
ls/vtec is something i would not let anybody else do for me, if you want it done right, do it yourself, plus, you need to do a major rebuilt on your bottom end if you want it to run properly
don't under estimate b18a/b18b engines, there very strong,
another option you would have is to swap a b16a engine in there but the difference between b18a/b and b16a isnt that big of a diff, b16a has the high end but the b18a/b has the low end torque
a site that is very helpful is http://www.c-speedracing.com
cresent, david b and the boys over there are very knowledgeable on swapping stuff in and out of your car so just leave a msg over there, there very trustworthy and they'll go out of their ways just to answer your question
good luck with everything!

you have a lot of research to do my friend even clean h22 installs can cause hassle in my opinion get a gsr motor it will relieve heaadache in the future
comming from a fellow gen 2 owner. You would need a pretty big shoe horn to get the H22 in there(tight spaced as is). i'd put together a swap it would be cheaper. I'd go with a b18c, with a cable tranny off of a jdm xsi integra ( you might be lucky and get a OEM lsd) along with a vtec ecu of ur choice. I'd say that would be more reliable and tad cheaper. If your main goal is to beat a ITR in a straight away, get some toda A's with some cam gears and some dyno time and you should be happy. good luck
