Default engine swap

i have a 1996 acura integra ls hatchback 1.8L 5 speed manual, i have put a cold air intake and a new exhaust but they don't improve the horsepower too much, i knew they wouldn't... would it be good to put a gsr vtec engine swap in my car? is there a better engine i can put in it? what would the price of the engine cost? would a turbocharger be better than an engine swap? idon't have too much money to spend

u gotta search man.. Gsr engine is good.. Type R engine is even better.. there are many many engines you can put into an integra. It all depends on what you wanna do.. All motor or forced induction..But use the search tool on this site man or else your gonna get burned hard.

put in an h22...run low 14's and call it a day...And in reference to your question..A turbo charger would be better than an engine swap. But depending on you one may cost more than the other

I would suggest Boost, or an LS/vtec set up. If you get a gsr, type r, or B16 head, you will have the advantages of vtec without the cost of a full swap.

not if it's built right he wont...The price should come out at least the same if not more

the cost of a correctly built and tuned lsvtec is going to be more than a full swap

(i personally like the b18a1/b1) easy to work on hard to blow up.

I think you read it correctly, and I don't think 93Ls-tegra knows what he is talking about.

Dont SWAP your motor, because your going to spend a lot of money and your not going to be satisfied. The best advice I can give you is leave it as is. But if you HAVE TO have more power definately Boost it. It cost the same as a swap and you will have so much more power. If you keep it around 250 with a good tune you will be okay. Most people say 300whp is reliable too but it will obviously wear the motor more then 250whp.

If you HAVE TO do something, boost it, nothing else is worth the money, unless your into circuit racing and your looking for a reliable motor that can take a good beating. Then I would get a itR motor.

I personally think you should boost your LS motor. For a practical kit to be driven daily will cost you around 1200-2000 minimum, and you going to have to find someone to tune it for you.

As for me, I'm swapping my LS engine for a b18c(gsr) and later down the road im going to boost it. i'm getting a jdm b18c for 1800$ from hmotorsonline.com and thats just the motor. You would still need an ECU or chipped ECU to run the engine. And if you don't do the work yourself, your going to be spending another $500 on up in labor to swap the motor.

I got all these figures from my own experiences from doing the same things so your numbers my vary a little more or less, but in that ball park.

You should probably wait until you have more money to spend on everything.

Boost it, it will probably be the most bang for the buck.

Sorry, the best bang for your buck is nitrous. But 3-4k will get you more power on your current setup with a properly tuned/sized turbo than any engine swap will give.

You can piece together your own turbo for a little over 1200. Way cheaper than a swap. Like everyoen said a built all motor setup would cost you far more than a new swap.

True. Tuning will set you back $$$, but do it yourself to save on install labor.

turbo setups are the best bang for the buck on Hondas....My first setup cost me like $2900 after tuning and a clutch, but the parts were mostly new. The best thing to do is wait for a good deal and then jump on it. Also, for just shy of $3000 i made 275whp which is a lot better than any swap. My new setup is much sweeter....

you're looking at $800+ to have it sleeved and another $600+ for new pistons and rods. that's before new bearings and gaskets and everything else. then you have to build the head to take advantage of it all.

just boost it.
