Default Engine Rev by itself?

I was in my cousin car and i started it and like 10 sec later the engine started to rev by itself. The idle would jump from 1000 rpm to 2500 rpm and then drop and do the same thing. up and down, up and down ect. then i steped on the gas and it went away. 10 sec later it did the same thing. What can be the problem?

bad IAC (idle air control).... its a neat little solenoid valve on the back side the intake manifold... try cleaning it w/ carb. cleaner... if that dont work... go to a junk yard and pick up a new one.... it also might be tps sensor (throttle position sensor) thats mounted on the throttle body... thats just something you can only replace... agian, junk yard....

My car does the same thing when i start the car on a wet weather or moist. But after it warms up, it's gone. Do you guys think it's the same thing needed to clean the sensor??? Carb cleaner will work??? (finding out where to get seafoam )

yep, vacumm leak can be it too.... seafoam will work for that... usually hear a hiss sound... but sometimes you dont.... but try those sensors and if you have an engine check light on... easiest thing would be read code then fix what the code says is wrong
