Do you have a pic or measurements of how close to the ground your oil pan is?

I think with cars lowered a lot, that there could be some benefit to raising the motor up and back toward the firewall a bit - maybe 2" in each direction.

Con: This would make the cg higher, and you would have to worry about vale cover contact to the hood.

Pro: It would move the weight distribution rearward + make the angle for the axles a lot happier.

I'm surprised hasport or someone else hasn't released adjustable height motor mounts... But on the other hand, the benefits may not outweigh the downsides - so maybe that's why.

Another alternative would be something like drop knuckles.

You can lower the car and keep all the oem suspension geometry optimal.

It would likely cost about the same as revising or re-engineering the motor mounts.

I know a low profile oil pan would probably rid me of this issue but I also don't want my tranny case that low either...

In all seriousness, whats the point of going through this mission and forcing your self to avoid any little defect in the road? All that work just seems like a lost cause for something thats going to be daily driven.

in soflo there are some MAJOR defects in the road. and I know scrapin on speed bumps is inevitable but I don't wanna scrape my pan or tranny case on em...

my goal is to not have space for a front lip riding on 15x9 maybe 16x9.5...

if u guys don't like it u can just keep scrolling to the next thread.. everyone has different intentions and goals... different things move different people... u don't see me going and flaming up the pics u guys post of ur hidious hick buckets... lets grow up guys

Not knocking you, just dont get the appeal of having to worry about driving and possibly getting stuck or cracking something. But good luck with your project, hope you figure out what needs to be done for your goal.

I agree this pic doesn't look as low as it really is.. but my oil pan/ tranny case gets stuck on average sized speed bumps..

lol calling other ppl's car **** box's ? OP my engine alone is worth more then your whole damn car....heck even the shell is, considering I don't hack my frame up. 2nd that's not "low" I know ppl who have lower daily's and don't scrape/come up with hack job set ups. I don't even see any scrapes on the pan let alone dents and if the trans case hit before the exhaust manifold....I think you need to go learn a few things.

hence the reason to go bags and non of this nonsense of driving so low and holding up traffic just b/c you can't go over a speed bump or leave a plaza at a snails pace

Agree wth some of these comments
Handling of the car will be affected
But at this point
I doubt op cares about handling as he's lowered a lot

Idk about moving the engine back 2" tho

There's probably only 2" between the back of the IM to the fire wall
The IM would be kissing the firewall.

I still think my idea is an ideal way to raise it. With reinforcement bars on the bars raising the engine.

As for hood clearance
I'm assuming you have an Ls VC.
You can use hood spacers and trim the center on the "skeleton" shell under the hood got more clearance.

But for all that work. You could just drive at a moderate safe speed and be very alert for pot holes.

Proby longer axles too

Or just shove all the suspension up into the fender well but then you would have possible tire rubbing issues.
Would still be cool to see this done
Definitely a first
And if find correctly. I'm sure more people along the years would try it too.
**** linkage will probably have to be cut, and weld on a straight pipe to reach the trans gear input levers then weld onto the straight bars the inputs got the trans inputs

Catch me? Lol
