Just put an air intake on it and call it a day. If you aint got alot of cash forget it. You can drop all the money you want into a LS, but if its not going toward a sc or turbo, you are just burning cash.
Our 4cyl do not respond all that well to just boltons. Just treat it right and she'll last forever. Have fun with what you got, dont get sucked into putting a ton of cash into it, unless you want to turbo it.
I have a 4dr LS with an intake and itr exhaust just because I like the sound. A friend has bolton gallor on his LS and I stay right with him, only diffrence is that he will loose his hearing before me, lol. If you want to do some moding look into some better shocks and springs as well as some strong/stronger tie bars, sway bars and tower strut.

Well i'm looking to do autocross and i just want a little more power and afterwards i'm going to get wheels and suspension and a strut bar but thats in a bit i'm getting headers and intake for now.

A little more power is Not something you will get from an exhaust, and intake.
Lighten your car, improve your braking/handling, and it'll be better for autox.

A header is useless w/o a complete exhaust and nice cat. Oh, and you only want one header.

Hate to go against the flow of this thread, but here is a link to a tired bone stock LS that base lined at 133whp/120wt (which is actually really good for a stock LS) and then he added I, H, E and tuning and dynoed at 151whp/141wt. That is more whp than many B16's and B17's and has much more torque. Its all relative I guess. Bolt-ons appearantly do add power and free up the car for future mods like cams and higher compression pistons.

My car was on NOS f@98K until I turbo @ 134K Miles and I ran it for another 40K until I got another used motor. The old motor still ran when I pull it out but compression a little low (135-140psi), leak down test a little high (8-14%). so going FI on your motor is all depend on the condition of the motor. don't waste your money on Bolt-on.
putting bolt ons on the car certainly isn't going to hurt anything. letting ur engine breath is better for it if anything... if u plan to do some auto cross then turbo prolly isn't the answer... supercharge would be better for that... turbo is for going straight/drifting... just my opinion... if anyone knows about a front wheel drive car turbo that sets auto cross records then be sure to let me know... but like others said, the best thing to start with is learning about suspension, and getting that set up... that will pull more seconds off ur time than 5 horses... and of course lightweight if ur willing to sacrifice luxuries...
more important than bolt ons would be the very basics...compression and leak test, timing belt, new pumps, spark plugs wires, basically a full tune up. All you really need to do to race on a road course is have a good set of tires...switch to racing brake pads (stock pads will burn up in 1 20 minute heat) change out your brake fluid and transmission fluid (your transmission goes through the most stress on a road course) maybe oil pan baffles, a smaller oil filter element, and a higher capacity radiator. Cooling becomes way more important than bolt ons fo road courses
try a NASA event...they're great you drive your car in 20 minute heats, they split you up into 4 classes...if you've never done it before your are in class one and you go out with an instructor...it's so much fun and for the membership and the cost of the event it's less than 3o0 dollars...you get more drive time than most racing instructor lead classes...and it's half the price
well i have some bolt ons being shipped now but i'm definately getting new wheels, tires and another part i just don't fully know what would be better to get
well.... like endokun said... preventative maintenance is prolly the best place to start... are u really wanting to participate in auto cross, or do u just want ur car to b a lil zippier??
Yeah i'm really going for autox they have them by where i live for twenty dollars for a full day of running and then the next day its $30 to compete so its worth it me and my friend with a subie are competing in it
aite then... i'd go with everything i could to prevent the car from crappin out on me if i planned to also have it as a street car. new fluids, and prolly a better radiator, maybe a higher pressure cap, and maybe a different thermostat? i'm not exactly an expert or anything, but i'm just telling u to prolly try and prevent any possible problems... then move on up to some bolt ons, but i would seriously start with some suspension, strut/sway bars. then i would go up to bigger rims... the smaller your tire the better (for auto cross), at least thats what i've been told becuz bigger tires bend more thru hard turns. at least to an extent... u don't want a half inch of tire... or u could get some slicks, they give u far better grip... and of course upgrade the brakes... go with pads first, then some drilled rotors... slotted will eat ur pads faster... drilled eats pads faster too, just not as fast... and there is a difference... i've had drilled brakes, and i've had flat surface brakes and i can tell u from my own experience in my civic, there is a big difference... ur brakes will not push against u if u have drilled or slotted brakes... the only way to completely grasp what i'm trying to get across is to just try it urself... but being someone that has used them, i definitely can say theres a big difference in the feel of the brakes... i didn't test the braking distance or anything like that... just telling u my experience with them... but anyway... the entire basis of this msg is work on keeping ur car alive first, move to suspension/brakes and then work on more power.
