electrical short problem.
ive got a 91 integra.(w/ obd1 conversion) i was just driving it normally and everything just shut off. i checked my underdash fuses... everything was good. under the hood tho.. the 2 big fuses closest to headlights side were burnt, all 5 blade fuses (including ecu fuse) were burnt, and 2 of the 3 blade fuses close to passenger side were burnt. so i bought a huge pack of fuses and replaced them all. and my ecu fuse seems to keep burning. i took out the ecu and put a p06 on it and it drove home fine. my main concern was to just get it home...
on the way home. something starts smoking.. i open the trunk. my trunk solenoid's (i installed a remote trunk solenoid) contacts melted off, and my drivers side auto seatbelt motor was smoking too. i disconnected those and it stopped smoking.
so now i got my car at home. my ecu is bad( i got another temp ecu tho.), my pwr windows don't work, seatbelts are beeping, check engine light doesn't flash when i turn on my car and i think i have figured out where it starts.
i read about a way to test for shorts here on this site.... i tried it on all my fuses and one that acts weird is my underhood ecu fuse. i have a test light and when i hook it up to the yel/wht wire coming from the ecu fuse the test light lights up even when i take out the fuse. the test light does turn off when i disconnect the large wht/blk wire going to the fuse box. im guessing the short starts with the wire coming from the ecu fuse and ends with a wire/switch/relay that hooks up to that wht/blk wire.
my question is. how do i go about finding where the shorted wire/switch/relay is? i have an idea of what components were affected and where it begins but it seems like there are so many wires. pls help.
