Default electrical problems!

my car was parked in a parking lot recently, and a lady decided to reverse her car w/o checking her rear view and she ran into my passenger fender/fender wall/bumper.. all going to be replaced.. however, after the accident, that evening i noticed that my interior dash lights didnt turn on when i turned my headlights on.. the signal lights still work, and the empty gas tank light turns on still too..however none of the other interior dash lights work (climate control, cd player, gauge cluster) .. clock still works though..i don't think it's a blown fuse, because then none of the interior lights would work correct? at least none of the gauge cluster (signals, gas light) correct? what could this problem be??

it's driving me crazy!! called my insurance company to see if they would cover the dealer diagnosing the problem but they said they're not positive if the electrical problem was due to the accident.. it's really confusing me because the fuse box is nowhere near the part of the car that was damaged.. consequently my insurance company might not even cover it! help honda-tech!!

thanks for all the advice in advance

do your taillights (not brake lights) still work when the headlights are on? what about license plate and dome light? this could be a fuse, here's a grand idea, go through your fuse box under your dash and look for a poped fuse. if you find one, replace it. if that fixes it, great, if the fuse pops as soon as you try to turn the lights on, theres a short somewhere in the circuit. the wiring could run through the part where you were hit and thus be shorted there. then your insurance company could pay for it.

i AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WHICH IS A 2000 ACCORD V6. I HAVE CHECKED EVERY FUSE. NOTHING WRONG THERE ITS NOT BLOWING ANY. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID I MAY HAVE A SHORT. IF THAT WAS THE CASE THEN I SHOULD BE BLOWING FUSE WHICH I AM NOT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANYTHING OUT BECAUSE THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST IRRITATING THING FOR ME. IF I FIND ANYTHING OUT I'LL LET U KNOW. I AM ABOUT TO TRY AND BYPASS THE HARNESS THAT RUNS INTO THE BACK OF THE CLUSTER BY RUNNING A WIRE FROM THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE DASH LIGHTS. I FIGURE ITS WORTH A TRY.

its not worth a try, it is worth it however to take it to a dealer or someone who can diagnose electronics and have them find the open, short to ground, or short to circuit. dont just overlook the problem by hot wireing it into another switch, fix it right the first time. there are more than just fuses inside cars that break circuits, theres fuseable links, circuit breakers, relays..... other such equiptment. anyone of these could have gone if they're on that circuit. what you need is a dmm, a factory or helms manual w/ a diagram of the circuit thats broke, and a few hours to run through the test procedures, then about 50 cents worth in parts.
