R U sure it makes it into a P72? Just because you add the VTEC circuitry, doesn't mean that the KNOCK SENSOR circuitry will automatically start working. Without the knock sensor, it's nothing more than a p28.

A lot of shops will charge a lot to convert over to VTEC. Might be better off picking up a 100 dollar P28 instead. Then pay to have that chipped. Then it's only like 30 to 50 bucks. (tuning is extra of course)

Hondata will modify your ECU for you for VTEC, if that is what you want though. There are a ton of other shops around that will do it also, for cheaper, but Hondata is reputable, and they will stand by their work.

go to phearable.net and ask him. It won't cost too much...then again, it might be easier and cheaper just to get a reprogrammed p05/p06 ecu that has been converted to vtec.

I would only reprogram my ecu on a dyno, call around to dyno's around you that you would feel safe tuning your car at. They will usually have the ability to re-chip and program the ecu.

well i dont have that kind of cash yet for a hondata, figured i seen ecu's that were chipped for like 200 so i fig'd i could just get mine done to save some cash. guess i am just gonna have to wait and find a stock obd1 p72 ecu to run the engine.

yeah, I wasn't saying to buy a hondata system, I was just saying to have them socket your ecu for you, so you could chip it.

i was not counting the knock board which you can also add if you like. i was talking more about the boards and iab control

Don't do the job 1/2 way. Save up and do it the right way. Putting your car on a dyno will be the only way to get an ecu set-up for your specific application instead of a band aid that will give you more power, but may give you lean spots and harm your engine in the long run.

I don't think you would save money. I think that a chipped P28, or stock OBD-1 P72 would be the route to take.

really quick, about the intake butterflies, are you going to use them? Did you add the wiring for them?

the knock sensor on are cars does not really work all that well so big deal, have it socketed, converted to vtec, tehn when the programing is done have them disable the knock all together. although you have to understand that there is a different process to make that ecu able to run the GSR intake manifold too. so either dont run that manifold or make sure previsions were set with in the ECU to run the iab's as well.

That being that case a lil more info on the subject. The h22 and gsr were the only engines to use that style manifold and an h22 ecu just wont cut it so im sure you can se where im goign with this. Your options are limited but at the same time theres a few was to go about dealing with our setup.
