I have Honda 02, v6 model. 51-3 Motor Lock code... what does this mean?? i have checked my relays and fuses, all seems well.

Ok so I just bought a 89 honda crx .But the guy did a motor swap to a d16a6 motor and he sold it because it dies for no reason without warning .The computer is flashing the number 4,8,and 20 codes .And I'm wondering if anyone might know where to start to fix this problem

Here is how I did it on my 1999 accord.
Place the jumper acros 9&4 of your diagnostic plug, just as you would do to read the engine or abs codes. With the jumper in place, follow the steps below:

Turn witch to the on (not start) position
As soon as the abs light comes on, press the brake pedal
As soon as the abs light turns off, release the brake pedal
As soon as the abs light comes on, press the brake pedal again
As soon as the abs lught turns off, release the brake pedal
The abs light will flash 2 times indicating there are no more fault codes and the light is reset
Turn ignition switch off, remove the jumper, abs light should be out

If at the end of the above procedure the abs light flashes 3 times, you still have a problem with your abs and the light will not reset until all faults are taken care off

 

This is a really old thread but when doing the paperclip trick if the light stays on steady does that mean there are no codes to report?

 

I measured the output of the O2 sensor(at the ecm) when running lean. It's output is stuck at approx .6 volts. If I open the throttle the O2 sensor starts to switch back and forth. I measured the heater circuit at the sensor. The positive side is a solid 12 volts but the negative side opens the circuit every 2.5 second for a few milli seconds? Perfectly constant.

Replacement O2 sensor on its way.
Will update.

 

I have a code showing up on my OBDII scanner P1399 can you tell me what would cause this.

ABS light is blinking a 93 code and i cant find that code anywhere? is it a bug or glitch in the software ? it wont reset the vsa and abs lights till the code is erased and a scanner doesnt even register it . so if i can get the codes cleared ill be good. tried unplugging fuzes and disconnecting the battery for hours and connecting the terminals while unconnected so idk how else to erase them.

 

91 Accord Sedan Automatic: so i cannot find a thread to post, and the other one is closed. I replaced the mainshaft speed sensor w/an oem one i found for a ton of money at a honda dealer near me. installed it. transmission still leaks (getting the hoses replaced, then soon a 5spd swap), but even when i fill up the transmission w/honda atf. the issue persists and code 15 (kickdown switch position sensor) still there. could it be the leak? from P to R. hard shift. at times 4th never engages until i pull over, turn the ignition off, turn it on and then go. i'm not hard on my cb. i dont race it since its not build yet. when you let off the gas, you can feel each gear kick hard. give it gas, and you'll feel each gear kick hard. i was told mainshaft speed sensor so it was replaced, like i said. oem for 200$ after taxes at honda in n scottsdale. does the trans leaking have any bearing on this? its just gotta last another month or two before the manual is complete and ready to be installed.

 

Old thread, I know, but so is my car - it's a very recently acquired January 1990 Accord EXi with a 'check engine' light illuminated.

I've tried the paperclip system, and it's throwing codes 41 and 43. I realise 41 means the O2 sensor (as above), but I've read conflicting information about error 43. In one forum, it shows a secondary O2 sensor with the ECU code 43. Here it shows 43 as a fuel system error. I suspect this is correct as I can't readily see a second O2 sensor. However, how do I fix the 43 fuel system error? I can't find information on how to rectify this!

 

Since you have the O2 heater code, replacing the primary O2 sensor may in fact fix BOTH codes. The "Fuel System Failure" is a very generic code, but many times, ends up being a wacky reading O2 sensor. If replacing the O2 sensor doesn't eliminate the 43 code, replace the fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel sock, clean the fuel injectors, and make sure that there aren't any cracks/leaks in the exhaust system forward of the O2 sensor.
