Default ect and vtec problem

my 95 integra ls is throwing a code 6 which is the ect water temp sensor. i dont know what is wrong. do i need to replace the sensor/thermostat? this is the reason my vtec is not working i think? does the radiator have to be hoked up for this code to go away. i say this because my radiator is manueling turned on because of the past owner messing around with things he did not know how to do. and if that is the case does anyone have a link to a site that shows how to hook up/wire up a radiator fan because i dont believe mine is plugged it the ecu or where ever it goes. i did not know this for a little bit thats why i think the sensor or thermostat is broken. i had just done an engine swap and i did not change the thermostat. i dont know what to do any help would be great.

If your radiator wasnt hooked up it would throw water everywhere. You mean your fan is not hooked up.

you cheap *** how can you do a engine swap and not spend 10 bucks on a thermostat and 2 for a gasket. An engine coolant temp sensor is about 25 bucks.
if you did a motor swap they should have hooked it up for u. Buy a honda manual or go to the dealer and ask. you have poor planning.

yes vtec will not kick in when the motor is cold and since your ect sensor is throwing a code the ecu will not read it correctly. what do u mean ur radiator's manually hooked up??? a bad thermostat shouldn't throw a code so im saying its the sensor.

thanks for your help i bought a new sensor. the manuely hooked put by a switch in the driver seat under the e brake because the past owner messed up the wiring and i had to fix his mistakes. how much did he mess up you say will ill just say when i got it it did not have turn signals because he thought it would be cool not to have them but it did knock the price down so it made me happy.
