all an intake is is an aluminum pipe typically....i dont see how one aluminum pipe will be better then another......durablity of the intake itself may be worse because of cheaper grades of aluminum....its usually a pipe unless you get one of those sausage things or an ice box...which is still a metal pipe... my first intake was an AEM replica off of ebay for 40 dollars...and it was exactly the same as the aem in size, diameter, weight , and same bends in the same place..except this one had no name. so i saved 100+$ from buying it. BTW it was 1pc

I think an ebay intake is fine for the money and what you expect out of it.

i am all for e bay intakes
i think it is stupid to spend 200 bucks on an aem intake when its just a normal aluminum pipe. same thing as an ebay intake and it works just the same too.

ebay intakes are a good bang for the buck, but I dont know what some of you are talking about, for one AEM and a few other companies arent even aluminum, and they are actually enginered for performance, and they do make more power, but for the money you spend on them they are not worth it, anyhow Intakes are over rated.

Yeah, your right. But still, I have never heard anyone say an intake is useless, and thats for a reason.

Once you are turbo, an intake doesn't mean ****, my filter is directly on my turbo

there's nothing wrong w/ebay intakes. Just make sure the diameter is at least 2.5" The first one i got was only 2.25", i forgot to check b4 i bid If you do get one you might also want to upgrade to a better filter.

I have several ebay intakes both short ram and CAI, i always ditched the filter and used a K&N on th end of them though. They've always been a perfect fit with no rubbing and I've never had a problem with any of them. If you want to shell out stupid money for a AEM/Iceman etc then go ahead, but an ebay CAI bought for $40 with a K&N (another $40) will do just as good a job!!

I have an ebay special that my brother gave me off his LS for free, it works even tho its not really ment to fit on my car i still made it work. Go for the 3 inch short ram, its like $20 and it works just as well as an aem.

why would you cheap out on coilovers? anyways to the topic. some people like warranties, obviously better quality, comes with a k&n already, and some people like having it CARB certified if emissions is a bitch where you live. buy aem/injen whatever.

All of you are saying "yea the aem is just as good!" do you have any idea of the the months of R&D pu into the AEM and the comptech Icebox, etc? That's why they are so expensive, because they are proven, tested and tried.

Ebay is just an aluminum pipe, sure AEM is also, but how thick are they? what grade aluminum is it? one conducts heat better than the other. The degree of the bends are also different (air must be defused within 8" of the TB to make power).

Long story short, sure its an intake and i bet it will make 1 or 2hp, but don't expect much more from it than that. AEM V2 cai made 16.9whp on a STOCK 2001 civic dx. What ebay intake can do that?

A pipe is a pipe. The amount of power increased with an intake is marginal anyway.. and if you want to spend the extra 180 bucks for that 2 extra horsepower.. go for it. But my ebay AEM CAI replica works just as well as the real thing that is in my friends LS

cite some sources with that 16.9 whp claim. otherwise, its just bs. and dont give aems web address, cause no **** they would say their intake makes more hp than any other intake. what independent study states that the aem intake produced a 16.9 whp improvement on a stock 01 dx?
