Default driver-side door is sagging.. solution?

so my driver-side door is sagging and it's hitting the striker upon closing the door. i seem to have narrowed the problem down to the lower hinge. i'm not sure if it's the hinge itself, or the pin that is worn, but it's likely one or the other.

so, now i'm wondering what's the best solution..

it doesn't seem like i can buy just the pin. i'm not even sure how to remove it.

i guess i can adjust the hinge itself, but that seems like a temporary solution.

there is also the option of replacing it entirely, another thing i don't feel like doing.

anyone out there run across this before? what did you do?

thanx!

Maybe the door was just taken off and put back on too low. Why don't you try to unbolt the door and adjust it? Simple solution...

This is the only way, and I would stop hanging on them while they are open!

the door has never been touched. i should know, i've had the car for over 6 years.

i don't hang on the door.. ever. i think it's just age and being opened and closed thousands of times.

i say that it's a worn pin or hinge, not maladjustment, because there is play in the hinge itself. i can see it.

What 'pin' are you talking about? Are you talking about the little hollow tube pin? Because that is not there to support to door at all, it's there to keep the door from swinging closed when open, and opening too far.

But from what you said about play in the hinge, I geuss replace that. I mean, if you can see the problem happening, did you really have to post about it on h-t?

no, i'm not talking about the door checker.

even though i do think it is the lower hinge, i want to be sure, hence why i'm asking. i'm sure someone else has experienced this. i would also rather not spend $30+ in replacing the entire hinge, if it's not necessary (i.e. replace this "pin" instead, or whatever it is that appears to have worn in the hinge)

Yea that's what I was suggesting. Personally, I'd rather try to do it the quick and easy way and see if that works, if not then start buying parts. Just loosen the bolts on the hinges and try adjusting the door and then get someone to tighten the bolts back up when you think you've got it right.

My car is ten years old both sides were sagging. I just popped both fenders off and adjusted them at the hinges and she is straight and true now. Did not replace anything. It's been almost a year since I've done it and it still lines up true.

Had to bump this old thread.. my driver side door is actually sagging and makes a ''pop'' noise opening and closing..

I'm gonna try readjusting, but does anyone have any idea what the hell this ''popping'' noise is?

Passenger side is perfect.. need to get all these little things fixed..

It's the hinge 100%. Same thing that had happened to my Ae86. Door kept getting banged up cuz that thing. It's a killer.
