Default down shifting

is down shifting bad for your gears? someone told me this and i dont know if it is true or not, i dont see how it can be bad but i just want to know for sure

Every shift is bad for your gears. As longs as you are shifting normally and not grinding, it should be fine. If you are doing this to slow the car, the brakes are financially a better choice.
