what causes the ignitor inside the dis. to burn and not work properly? bought one (used) about four months ago and its starting to act up again. got any ideas what the culprit might be..

 

I bought a coil and ignitor from Autozone 2 years and 40K miles ago, still running fine. Maybe you shouldn't buy used ones, because you don't know how much life they have before they go out.

 

don't buy used ignition parts. you don't know what it's been through. go to the parts store and get one. (lifetime warranty.) any modifcations to ignition?

 

my car is bone stock. maybe? but ive been buying used dizzys for quite a while. not for this car but for other integras. they seem to go out very easy

 

at the most the coil is 100 and its even that much from the dealer i dont know how much the ignitor is but maybe cheaper but the point is, it is not exspensive nor is it hard to rebuild a distributor and it will last you many miles most likely at least 100,000
