distributor trouble

B18A1 with gsr head also with obd0 computer
90 00
i have been running with the stock distributor with the front leg cut off. when my car dies on its ocasian it doesn't have spark.
when i check for power it is good.
replaced the ignition mod. twice.
plans
convert to obd1
convert to 5 speed
i already have a p72
