I need to pick up a new hatch for my DC2 and I know the earlier cars had a cable realease style setup, while the newer ones (like mine, a 2000) had an electronic release. Is the actual mechanism on the hatch itself any different between the two styles of release?

The hatch itself should be the same between 94-97 and 98-01. The locking mechanism below would be the difference.
