differences between dynos??
Just did my first dyno run today, managed to gain 5fwkw from advancing timing to 18.5...
i was wondering about the numbers i see posted up here alot, people seem to be getting very big numbers, 150hp and there abouts... which is more than 110kw.
i was just wondering if different brands of dynos can spit out results that far away from eachother??

to me pretty much numbers are bragging rights...dyno's finalized numbers...pretty much what should matter is the consistency...and before/after from a mod..to see how much power a mod adds/subtracts or how it shifts the powerband..u should use the same dyno always..and correction factors should play a small role...a dyno is what tuning and efficiency is all about
i also believe that the user has a lot to do with figures, i brought my car to a triple 7 rolling road and done three runs, with 123whp (corrected) being the highest figure gained, and this was for a JDM B18C with intake, iridium plugs and mugen exhaust. I asked the guy if this waqs right as i had lost over 30bhp somewhere, he said that that was about right as he had guys in civics with B16a engines who were only making 110whp, so i knew he hadnt a clue what he was takking about or didnt know how to use his machine. i went to another dyno shop (dynojet) and done 3 runs, this time, after advancing the timing to 17.5 the car made 160whp on the third run, which i reckoned was about right. This figure was more or less the exact same as the figure the other machine said i was getting at the crank.
Can someone tell me does the dyno plot show the crank figure or the wheel figure. The dynoplot i got for the first 777 machine said the plot was for flywheel power, but i thought that a dyno can only read whp and then compensates that figure for loss in transmission etc and gives the crank figure, this might explain why my numbers were so low.
