Default difference between a gsr and ls

I have a 1995 integra ls im looking to squeeze a little more power out of. I was thinking about putting a vtec head on it. Now, is a gsr engine just an ls with a vtec head? Also, is ls/vtec putting on a gsr head, or a b16a head, cause i heard you can do both. And i was wondering if anyone has ever done either setup? I have also heard alot of mixed results across many forums on the reliability of these swaps. Also, wouldn't putting a b16a head onto my ls make it have higher compression? thanks in advance for all your help.

try search for ls/vtec, i can't use anything with 2 letters. I really did try searching. Also, search gets alot of untrue facts, as people seem to just throw info out they hear from friends. i would like to hear from someone whose experieneced it.

10 days i believe?

GSR's do not use LS (b18B) bottom ends. LS/VTEC is when you take any of the B series VTEC heads and mate it with a b18a or b18b bottom end. The process is not as straight forward as it seems, some machine work needs to be done. By mating a VTEC head to the LS bottom end you do increase the compression ratio a bit.. but if you wanted even more compression you can put high compression pistons in. IMO reliabilty on these motors tends not to be so great.. BUT there are people with these motor set ups who have had good reliability.. it all comes down to how much time and money you invest in building it properly.

and also in your sig, it says your looking to get into a turbo, if thats the case then why the hell would you waste your $ on a ls/vtec swap? put that $ in a FI system and call it a day. you will have to lower the compression anyway if you go ls/vtec. the low compression is already there

If you don't care if he likes your screen name, then why did you change it?

the biggest difference between a LS and a GSR, is that the GSR can lock the post because it's become one filled with bullshit
