the 94-97 lights are less sloped and the light recess point more or less straight forward. The 97- lights have more sloped glass/covers and the recess surrounding the lights is angled inwards towards centre of the car. i'm not sure if the lights are interchangeable between 94 and 97- models

98+ headlights are bigger and have a diferent shape then the 94-97 lights, they will bolt right up to your 96 but will not fit under your bumper, you will need to get the 98+ bumper as well

There is a HT memeber with a 98+ front bumper and 94-97 headlights, but I forgot his user name.

Yes I think I have seen pics. of that car, the 94-97 lights will fit under a 98+ bumper but not properly, there will be a lot of gaps. However he is asking if 98+ lights will fit under a 96 bumper, and that will not work.

Nobody mentioned the 98+'s are 100% red and the 94-97's have amber blinker.
hahaha, 97redtegsgr, it does say HEADLIGHTS! at least u caught ur mistake and fixed it, hehe and btw, it's not 100% red either, there's still the clear reverse light
