Default DA SWAP HELP

Okay so to start off i have a DA shell that me and my friend
had bought about two, 3 weeks ago and finally selling my DD Rex.
to get this thing on the road. So these are my plans and this is what
i have.

I have my B16a, got an LS cable tranny.
My whole setup is OBD1 and im glad cuz
the DA is a 93 so that means, itll plug right up.
just need to wire up vtec.

Is there anything i should know about before hand?
anything else i need for it to run right.
do i need certain mounts???
the parts im missing are.
-Motor Mounts
-Axels
-Ecu
-Vtec Wired

pretty huh?

what its goin into.

You don't need aftermarket mounts, the stock ones work fine. Make sure you get a clutch that matches the year of the transmission (90-91 vs 92-93). And personally I'd get a new trans. That long geared trans is going to suck mated to the low torque, high revving b16a. You really need a short geared trans for that engine.

Having vtec engage at that low of an rpm is going to make the problem worse, not better. At that rpm you'll be making more power with the non-vtec lobe, so by switching to vtec you'd see a drop in power on your dyno graph.

Sounds to me like you need to STOP and think for a minute. Don't buy any more parts, don't plan your swap for the near future... Do some research and you'll save yourself a lot of time, money, hassle and disappointment.

If that's all you got and you need a running car, then yeah, that's what you've got to do (I forgot that it was a shell and not an already running vehicle). Just be prepared to be very disappointed and put a transmission at the top of your list of next things to do/purchase. ****, sell the LS trans, the Skunk2 intake manifold, spark plug wire cover, and the header to fund the transmission. The IM and header aren't going to give you much any power anyway, especially w/o cams and a tune. Stock b16a w/ short geared trans will be faster and much more than than a mildly modded b16a w/ LS trans.

agreed. Do what you gotta do if you need a running car asap, but dont set your vtec so low trying to make up for the lack of power, bottom line is its going to be slow, selling the IM and header and ls trans will give you more than enough for a b16 trans

It will run fine, it's just not going to accelerate quickly. If you need it for driving around, then yeah, do it. But if you're building this car as something on the side and with performance as your focus, then why bother until you can do it right? I just know I hate dropping transmissions and in your situation if I could just wait, I would.

Smog? Your location says Riverside, if that's CA then you have a challenge in front of you regarding smog.
