every time i take out my gauge cluster and attempt to put it back in, i pull the other end of the speedo cable from the transmission out so i can get some length from the gauge side, and then once every thing is in from the inside, i just go and plug the speedo cable back into the transmission.

that extra clip behind the cluster is cruise control. you don't have to mind it.

and that green plug i think is either your passenger side, or driver side seat belt control, it should plug up into the box right above it. next to the brown clip. the reason it's probably out is because your seat belt doesn't work something like that huh? acura offers a life time warranty on seat belts so you can just bring it to them.

about your car smoking... uh my best bet would be to let it run for awhile to let it burn off whatever it's burning. but if it doesn't stop after while and your oil levels are low. your motor could be burning oil. go get a compression test.

hope this helps.

Well I was gonna say that if you have an RS than there will be no plug for that back part of the cluster because I believe it's for the cruise control. And you said that cluster was from a 92, possibly an LS or GS, both of which I believe have cruise control...But then you showed the 4th picture of that green plug and that box there looks like the cruise control box....so not sure about that one...

As for the speedo cable, if you can get behind the cluster, you can pull that cable to give it a little slack. The easiest way to intall it, imo, is to remove that clear cover, and the light bar on top of the clear piece and install the cluster without that clear piece, then when you get the cable in and locked, go ahead and install the clear piece over. Problem with this way is that you cannot reattach the two metal braces that go on top of the cluster. I have never had a problem without those braces yet and it's been like 5 months since I removed them.

sounds like maybe a bad cluster...def take the speedo cable oout of the tranny though makes it soooo much easier...also the extra spot on the cluster is just a spot for abs wires for the newer da/s with abs

its for cruise control. i fixed the cluster i just tightened a couple of loose screws in the back. it all works except the back lights that im not too worried about. but the only thing i need to do now is wait for my radius rod bushing to get here from honda and fix my no blinker problem and its good to go.
