Default DA cluster options

I got a 92 Integra RS. I'm very disapointed in the cluster at night. The numbers are back lit, but you can't see the needles. Is this how they all are? What other options do I have to improve the cluster? Any swaps etc? I'm not a big fan of cheap aftermarket glow inserts, but if there's a good quality cluster kit out there, I'd like to see some pics.

I have a 93 Civic, the cluster isn't great, but it's much better than my Integra. I swapped it for an EX tach cluster. I'm sure there's something similar you can do with the DA.

You have a couple options, there is JDM clusters out there, 90-93 JDM cluster are brighter but they are in km/h, 90-91 start redline at 8, 92-93 start redline at 8200. Both are significantly brighter than USDM. On the stock one you can swap out bulbs for new ones.

You have other options as well but it involves taking apart your cluster (which is pretty easy). For me, what I did was I took my cluster out, took off the plastic cover, painted florescent paint on the needles (BE CAREFUL.. if you move the needles out of place you may end up breaking that portion of the cluster.. I broke my tach that way and had to replace it) as well as changing the bulbs in behind and the ones that shine above to L.E.D. bulbs. Various colours available. I went for blue myself.

I put red wide-angle LEDs in my 93 Civic cluster and climate control. I don't think that will work with the Integra because there's really no light at all for the needles. It's backlit only.

On the 88-91 Civic, you can remove a light diffuser at the top of the cluster to get more light. Is it the same on the Integra? Every thing else about the car is the same as the EF.

On the Civic, I'm thinking about clearing off the needles with some laquer thinner because I read that works pretty well. But on the Integra, there's no lighting for the needles at all so it probably wont do anything.

There are bulbs that shine on the needles. I know because one of them on my 92 works intermittently and makes it hard to see the tach and temp gauge. Im sure you can replace them.

Thanks for the info! I'll pull the cluster and check it out. I have spare bulbs on hand.
