DA + B18C1
yoo, this is my car

im usually on hondaforums, but they couldn't answer a few questions i had about the gsr swap im doing mid-july. here they are, thanks in advance guys...
1. my car is auto right now, and im doing an auto-manual conversion during the swap, keeping the cable tranny. the only thing im unsure about is will i need to replace my axle's? i just replaced both for $500 and i'd like to not spend another $500...
2. when the swap is complete and i am ready to start buying the basic I/H/E, do i buy parts for the C1 engine or the A1 chassis? like if i bought an exhaust for an '01 gsr, would it work on my car with the b18C1?
3. is this a decent "getting started" set-up: SMSP header, AEM CAI, rs*r exhaust, crower cams, crower cam gears, b&m short shifter, edlebrock ported IM, and a shocker sticker....j/k

1. you can reuse you stock axles..just make sure you reuse you stock intermediate shaft also..
2. i would run an exhaust/header designed for you car..as far as the intake it gets a little tricky because gsr intake manifolds are a lot differnt..if you do run a single runner type intake manifold then any intake for your car should work out fine

Stock fuel pump can handle those light mods.
SMSP header is a good choice. Get exhaust components to fit the chassies as I believe all b series blocks have the same exhaust bolt pattern.
As mentioned, you will probably need to do some light fab work to get the intake to work in your chassis with the gsr IM. If you get an aftermarket IM, I'd say get one to fit your chassis.
Plan on investing in a tune when you do the cams

Blox has an IM for that engine. I would keep the stock airbox and just drop in a monster flow or k&N air filter. That way if a police officer wants to pull you over he wont dick you for the intake system.

I'm sure he would say something about the header, or IM or ******* completely different engine than it should have in it before he said something about a filter.

don't listen to him, those upgrades are unnecessary
just get i/h/e, and then get an aftermarket clutch you will be happy for a while.
good luck

I would reccomend selling the hydro gsr tranny if you have it and buying a cable b16 tranny.</TD></TR></TABLE>
ehhh if you got the tranny with the motor and your doing an engine swap anyway, spend the few bucks for the hasport cable to hydro conversion, or just get the innovative kit thats all of the motor and transaxle mounts as well as the bracketry to use a hydro tranny. cause cable trannys are garbage anyway.

thanks for the replys guys.
It seems like the majority of you think i should buy parts for the DA chassis, which i will do. the IM and intake seem to be a problem.

I've heard that Blox is okay at best...what about Edlebrock? I'm thinking of keeping the airbox b/c K&N filters flow pretty well...i don't even mind paper filters.

wrong.
i love cable tranny's for some reason. just the feel is so much different then the hydro tranny. i dunno, it's all a matter of opinion i guess.

Just upgrade the intake manifold, from how it sounds you are want to go all motor so you eventually will anyway. And for an Intake, you will have to do a little fab'ing but thats never that hard when it comes to an intake arm. Love the choice in engine. Hope it goes smoothy, GL.
And for intake manifold, I would recommend the victor X. Definately one of the top for top end power.

you cannot not reuse the stock intermediate shaft when doing the 5 speed swap you need one from a 5 speed. but yes you can reuse your axels. just make sure you get all the parts and hardware for the 5 speed swap. therese a few write up's on here about the 5 speed swap also look on g2ic.com i used them and honda-tech for mine.

so now i have a lot of different opinions on the axle's...can i use the stock axle's + auto intermediate shaft? or do i have to buy a 5-spd intermediate shaft?
i'm keeping my '90 cable tranny for this swap. extra tranny parts are being provided by the shop.
The C1 has 40,000 miles on it and i'm getting it for $1500 from my buddy. installation is included with that sum of money, as well as a tune. I just need to come up with the extra amount of money for parts like motor mounts and shift linkage....which could be pricey.
i want to start off with N/A, but once it's built to a certain point, i want to boost it. i know turbo is the most common boost option on these 4-cyl engines, but my friend had a "05 RSX-S A-SPEC with the comptech S/C @ 5 psi, and he ran consistent 13.5's. Then he upgraded to the 9 lb pulley but didn't go to the track after that and sold it. i'm actually interested in super-charging this car. call me stupid. i'd like opinions. thanks guys.

goto password jdm for the auto->manual tranny mount, use 90 cable tranny shift linkages, you will definately need a 5 sp intermediate shaft. i have the entire 5sp conversion for sale really.
cluster, tranny w/ speedo sender, shift linkages, brand new clutch and pp, clutch cable, intermediate shaft, flywheel(needs to be resurfaced) + pedals. i'll make you a real good deal if you want to meet up and buy it all. all you would need is the tranny mount.

yo man, i talked to the guy tonight, he said that he'll have all those parts for me when im ready to do this swap, so i won't need yours...sorry man, thanks for the offer though.
