car is acting up a little bit..........idles between 900 then shots up to 1500 and so on and so on........checked my vac lines didnt see any disconected lines or cut lines, wondering if its the idle air control vavle cause the check engine light comes on.

ummm, could be many things. Is it OBD1 or OBD2?

Fast idle valve. Idle air control valve. Try those 2 first.

try taking off your IACV first and cleaning it with carb cleaner. Its right there on the back of the manifold.

its OBD0, its a DA

mine was doign that because the thermostat didnt register it as being hot... but that is because my coolant had run out the bottom of my radiator....

 

Could be OBD1992-93) or he coulda swapped a OBD2 motor in there. I thought the same thing after I posted that too.

 

also my thermo works sometimes, but when it registers my car idles at like 900 and seems fine.........
