Cut pipe after the header?
I'm looking into this GSR and the dude cut the pipe right after the header. So now it sounds like I have a chainsaw under the car. I test drove this car and it feels very slow for what it is. Can this "leak" of air be the culprit? Also, can this throw a cel? THanks....U guys rock!
if the gsr is a 96 or newer it is obd2 and since their would be no cat or 2nd o2 you would have a cel, possibly causing the ecu to go into limp mode which would make it run rich and therefore rob you of power.
so in short, yea.. if it's a96 or newer
pre obd2... i dunno, doubtful... get an exhaust on it though... then test drive it... no telling how many grinds and knocks you can't hear b/c of the LOUD exhaust.

im not 2 sure but most likely if hes been toying with the exhaust manifold hes been racing the car, either that or a cruel science experiment. Integras arent all that quick in there first stages, but the powerband and town driving is really fun. Be careful and hope u find a nice car
Well, dang. I found this '94 GSR for 4g's it has 150k on it. So I went over and did a compression test on it...185-190 across. So the motor seems healthy. Its throwing a cel and the pipe is just cut. The whole exhaust is there, but right after the header its cut? Dumb idiot. The dealer is gonna get it welded back up and see what happens. But it is obviously slow. My civic dx picks up better! Anyway....thanks for any input. Peace!
assuming your other two cyliders had similar pressure your ok there
the exhaust won't throw a CEL since the only o2 is at the collector.... which is still there...
is VTEC engaging?
was the car warmed up when you drove it?

then dont buy it.. problem solved

if the car wasn't yet up to normal operating temp vtec would not engage.
i'd suggest going to test drive it again.. this time let it warm up a couple mins, then get in and drive normal until the temp gauge steadies itself out
you will hear vtec running open header.... or at least i would imagine you should
IF you can hear the engine it will change tones between 4 and 5 thousand rpms
i'm sure you could get a more specific answer.... i'm estimating...
