Re: cracked windshield! (TeaAddict)
a new windshield would probably cost between $120-$210 depending on where you go. some places are cheaper than others.. doesn't take that long for them to do either.
if you have the cash, call up some place that comes to YOU to fix it.
i have a pretty big crack across my windshield. can't wait to get it replaced!

If it's still rather small, you can almost definitely have it repaired rather than replace the whole windshield (unless the damage is directly in front of the driver). Call up some local windshield repair shops and they'll can give you additional information and quotes. Whenever possible, I'd much prefer having a windshield repaired rather than replaced.

I had mine done for about $140, new glass, but I had to take it to a shop. Depending on the size, the person can fix individual dings without replacing the whole thing

Can anyone confirm that with full coverage it is free to have a windshild replaced? What about the deductable, does it not apply to this? I have a big crack on my windshield too thats getting bad and need to get a new one ASAP. Thank you.

Try fixing it yourself for 8$. At autozone, advance, etc they have things that do a pretty good job of repairing stars and bulls eyes and small cracks. Basically they include a syringe that sucks all the air outta the crack and then injects liquid glass and you let it dry and scrape off the excess liquid glass.

Re: cracked windshield! (99teggsr)
I worked for Advance for three years, and apparently it works very well... I had a couple of regular customers who I showed it to, and they came back and said it hasn't spread or anything. They said it didn't look as good as the afterwards picture on the package, but after three months of changing weather, it didn't spread.

I have a dime crack on my windshield also, not a biggie but its a blemish and im a perfectionist. How does it work to repair a crack in a glass? I have never heard of it before! Also, how good does it look afterwards? Does it look flawless or do you still "some" of it? Thanks.

Re: cracked windshield! (DirtyD12Dozen)
Claiming it on most insurance policies will also cause your rates to increase at renewal time -- better off fixing it out-of-pocket.
A tree limb fell recently and smashed mine . Safelite Auto Glass is coming to my house on Wed. to replace it -- $199, quality replacement, good warranty, etc. On their web site, if you "request a quote", they take your info and call you back within the next 30 minutes .
